Eurabelt Publications — Editorial Standard
1. The three-source rule
- Every publication is based on exactly three sources, chosen by a custodian.
- Each source is an official publication of a government agency, regulator, intergovernmental body or other institution admitted under the Sources Reference Guide. Each is retrieved from, or verified against, that institution's own official website.
- The full title, publisher, address and retrieval date of all three sources are printed with every publication.
- Publications do not draw on news reports, blogs, commentary, advocacy material, social media or any source whose institutional authority cannot be shown.
2. Strictly factual content
- Every statement is drawn from one or more of the three sources and cites them with a numbered marker such as [1], [2] or [3]. Every one of the three sources is cited.
- Every figure, date and unit matches the source exactly. Figures are not rounded, converted or combined unless the source does so.
- Where the sources differ, both statements are reported with their citations. Eurabelt Publications does not choose between them.
- Publications do not contain opinion, prediction, investment or trading advice, policy recommendations, or characterisation of any government, company or country beyond what the sources state.
- Each publication ends with a Eurabelt Publications Summary. The summary restates the key facts, with citations, and adds nothing new.
3. How publications are prepared
- Source selection. A custodian selects the three sources. The Service retrieves each one directly from the issuing institution, or accepts a PDF only when the official address where it is published is given and belongs to an approved official domain.
- Drafting. A first draft may be prepared with an automated writing assistant. The assistant is given only the three sources and instructed to write only what they state. Every passage it writes is linked to the source text that supports it.
- Automated verification. The draft is checked by machine before any person may approve it. The checks confirm that every paragraph is cited, that all three sources are cited, that every figure appears in the sources, that the Summary is present, and that no opinion or forecasting language is used. A publication with an unresolved issue cannot be approved.
- Custodial review. A custodian reads the draft against the three sources and corrects or removes anything that is not fully supported.
- Approval and signature. Only after a custodian approves it is the publication signed Eurabelt Publications and issued under the seal of the Eurabelt Custodial Order. Approval is recorded in the custodial audit trail.
4. Release and distribution
- Each publication is released to the public or to a membership tier, as set out in the Membership & Registration Policy. Member-only publications are shown only to entitled members.
- Public publications may be shared on professional networks and sent to news and trade publications on the Eurabelt media list.
- Newsletters go only to members who have not opted out and to media contacts who have not unsubscribed. Every newsletter contains a one-click unsubscribe link.
- Publications are available by RSS at /publications/rss.xml.
5. Attribution and reuse
The underlying data remains the property of the issuing institutions and is subject to their terms. The text of a public Eurabelt publication may be quoted with attribution to "Eurabelt Publications, Eurabelt Fuels Global Statistics" and a link to the publication. Anyone reusing it should cite the original sources listed in the publication. Member-only publications are subject to the Terms of Use and Account Terms.
6. Corrections and withdrawals
- If a publication is found to misstate a source, it is corrected or withdrawn promptly. Material corrections are recorded in the corrections register under the Methodology, Neutrality and Corrections policy.
- Withdrawing a publication removes it from the site and stops any newsletter still waiting to be sent.
- To report a possible error, use the Contact page. Please quote the publication title and the statement concerned.
7. Independence
Eurabelt Publications is not paid to publish, promote or omit any information. It does not publish sponsored content. Commercial relationships of Eurabelt Fuels Ltd have no influence on what is selected or how it is reported. The neutrality commitments in the Methodology apply in full.
